In short

The India Strategy Compression Report is strategy1's quarterly report on how long strategy work takes: an independent specialist's written baseline against strategy1's time for the same deliverable, as a median per engine with the case count beside it. Report #1 is being prepared, and every case in it needs a written baseline and client permission.

Method

How we keep it honest

Five rules from the published method decide what reaches the report and how it is counted.
  1. 01No baseline, no indexAn independent specialist estimate is written down before work starts.
  2. 02Like for likeThe baseline and our delivery cover the same scope.
  3. 03Waiting time treated the sameTime spent waiting for client data is excluded on both sides, or on neither.
  4. 04Medians, not best casesWe report the median per engine and per quarter.
  5. 05Outliers shown, not trimmedEvery case in the quarter appears in the appendix.

In each report

What every edition carries

  1. 01

    Summary and 3 key findings

What compressed, what did not, and why.

  2. 02

    Index by engine

With the case count beside every median, so you can see how much each number rests on.

  3. 03

    Case notes

Anonymised and client-approved. No case appears without written permission.

  4. 04

    Method and data appendix

Every case in the quarter, outliers included, with the method the numbers follow.

From case to report

How a case reaches the report

The report is built from published cases only. Internal demos, estimates we wrote ourselves and work the client has not accepted do not count.
  1. Step 1

    A baseline is written

Before work starts, an independent specialist estimates the same scope in writing. It is stored with the case evidence.

  2. Step 2

    The work is measured

All of our working time counts: agent runs, strategist work, human review and Domain Fellow sign-off, from our time log and the timestamps on signed approvals.

  3. Step 3

    The case is cleared

It counts only with an accepted deliverable and the client's written permission to publish, after an anonymisation pass reviewed by a Strategy Partner.

  4. Step 4

    The quarter is reported

Each case is reported on its own first, with its baseline document. The report then gives the median per engine, the case count beside it, and every case in the appendix.

Report #1

Get it when it is published

Report #1 is being prepared. With few cases in the first quarter, it will state its case count on the cover and in the first paragraph.

No figure appears in the report until the case behind it has its written baseline, an accepted deliverable and the client's permission. Tick only what you want: an alert for the report, the monthly strategy1 Review, or both.

FAQ

Questions about the report

When is Report #1 published?
Report #1 is being prepared. It is published when the cases behind it have their written baselines, accepted deliverables and the client's permission to publish. Leave your email on this page and we will tell you when it is out.
Do I need to give my email to read it?
No. The web report and the PDF need no form. Email is only for the case-level data appendix, a CSV file, and for alerts when the next report is out.
Will it name clients?
No client is named without written permission. Case notes are anonymised and client-approved: names, figures that identify the client, locations finer than state level, and document headers or logos are removed.
Do you publish the slow cases?
Yes. Outliers are shown, not trimmed. Every case in the quarter appears in the appendix, and every median is shown with the number of cases behind it.
Does the index measure quality?
No. It measures time. Quality is shown separately for every published case: who accepted the work, the red-team findings and the Domain Fellow sign-off.
